NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. An item in the Daily News of January 31 written by Bhavna Sookha reports that 25 year-old textile and design technology student at the Durban Institute of Technology, Mosili Moletsane, recently left for a three weeks stay at the Danish Design School. This was the prize of the Environmentally Friendly Design Competition in Cape Town last year which was won by a group of four students, one of whom was Mosili. This will be her first visit overseas. Mosili was also the recipient of DIT’s annual Emma Smith Overseas Art Scholarship which allows her to study at any design school of her choice anywhere in the world. She intends to make her choice while in Denmark. The Emma Smith Scholarship has a proud history and applicants are selected from the disciplines of Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Jewellery Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design, Textile Design and Photography. Mosili joins an impressive line-up of top South African artists and designers who have been acknowledged for their skills and talent.
