NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. Dianne Barnard presents a programme titled Out to Lunch on SAfm on Saturday's after the One O'Clock News. Her guest artist on September 25 will be Philip Bateman, the first World Champion in Creative Thinking and speaker at the MENSA international conference to be held in Cape Town next weekend. The name Brian O’Shaughnessy is synonymous in South Africa with fine drama – whether on radio, stage or screen. He was a household name in the late-lamented days of Springbok Radio when he featured regularly either as a writer, producer or actor. In Durban to direct the play A Time to Die at the KwaSuka Theatre for the Anglo-Boer War commemorations, Brian will be Dianne’s guest on October 2*: Miriam Stockley will discuss the release of her first solo CD on October 9 and the programme on October 16 will feature Anthea Johnston, President of the Public Relations Institute of SA (PRISA). *”A Time to Die” features another radio drama household name, that of Don Ridgway who is back in Durban to appear on this play with deals with the story of Breaker Morant (see Drama)
