The SABC Technology Excellence Awards were held in Johannesburg on Friday. The glitzy function was attended by guest of honour, the Minister of Science and Technology Mr Masibudi Mangena.

The purpose of the awards was to honour the "backroom staff" of the SABC who have made outstanding contributions to radio and television broadcasting during the last year.

Three members of the Durban SABC staff were recognised for their talents. These were Sipho Mkhize (Outstanding Technical Contribution in Radio Broadcasting); Isaac Ismael (Outstanding Administrative Contribution in a Supporting Role : Radio) and Strini Moodley (Outstanding Contribution in Broadcast Information Technology.

With only a total of nine national awards available, it was a great feather in KZN’s cap to have garnered three of them.
