The newly established “critical moment” Photojournalism Gallery recently started its first series of photography workshops at Technikon Natal City Campus in Room 36. The workshops will run for the next four weeks on Saturdays from 09h00 to 11h00. The classes are R5 per person. Instructors include John Teece, Siphiwe Gumede and Moses Khubisa.

The photojournalism gallery is working in conjunction with the KZN Millennium Roots Project which aims to culturally re-map South Easter Africa (SEA), through print and visual media. The project aims to generate employment opportunities for the students involved in the photographic workshops.

The theme of the current exhibition is Transport, RDP and Lifestyles. The next “critical moment” exhibition will be held in October. The theme is Religion and Work and it will feature the work of photojournalism students, and differently-abled people who have attended the workshops.

Gallery times are Monday to Friday (11h30-15h30) and Saturdays (09h00-12h00). Further information from Bongeka Jikela on (031) 203-6614.
