My site www.geocities.com/matkovic.geo was founded in 1997, as a simple site with a few images which I was submitted for the Internet Raytracing Competition (IRTC). Images were done with the influence of this place: without hard words about Art, simply with wishes to show works, in most cases only for “technical merit”. I was the one of the winners in April and June 1999.

IRTC was refreshing for me, just as a something different from Croatia, with a lot of classic artists with good schools but too much academic for me, in spirit of art schools from the times of Imperial Austria-Hungary, even schools in daily Austria aren't so “high”. Other side is a good urban tradition of drawing for comic books or cartoons but always ignored, especially in ancient regime.

In last few years, I'm 3d graphics professional, most of my jobs are 3d modelling, most of that for computer games, for small firms from Germany, Nederland and UK. I feel very satisfied with that. A lot of young, innovative people are there. I use cheap software, almost freeware, because it's simply better. New things usually are just there. I work on a new completely new site, which will not be so “nice” as a current.

If I can do something for-with ArtSmart (or anyone else), I'll be happy, but I need to say that places like a South Africa are unknown for me, looks “exotic”. I really don't know what people like there, what not.
