On March 15, the Pietermaritzburg-based University Film Club is back in action with their Thursday classic films, shown at 18h00 in the CVA lecture theatre in Ridge Road. The film will be Viridiana (1961), directed by Luis Bunuel.

This is a funny and deeply subversive account of "human selfishness, ingratitude and cynicism", made at the invitation of the Franco government in Spain and banned before it ever arrived in Spanish cinemas, despite winning the Palme d'Or at Cannes. Safe parking available.
