On September 14 at 18h00, the Pietermaritzburg-based University Film Club will present Werner Herzog's 1997 film, Stroszek in its Classic Movie slot.

A profoundly idiosyncratic film-maker, Herzog was one of the key figures of the New German Cinema of the 1960s and 70s. This surreal road movie has been hailed as "one of the oddest films ever made". It follows an ex-prisoner, an ex-prostitute and an eccentric elderly man in pursuit of the American Dream as they leave Germany to seek a new life in Wisconsin.

Films are shown at 18h00 in the CVA lecture Theatre in Ridge Road, Pietermaritzburg.
