Keep the tissues handy for this weepy melodrama about the 30-year-long friendship between a brash Jewish actress and a classy heiress.

Gather your female friends around for this one: it’s a shameless blubberfest about the enduring friendship between two women who are as different as chalk and cheese. They meet when they are both 11 years old, and continue writing and meeting over the course of the next 30 years. CC Bloom is a loud, brash Jewish dancer from the Bronx; Hillary Whitney is a shy, reticent woman from the right side of the tracks.

This film takes a look at the friends through all the stages of their lives – marriages, divorces, pregnancy, illness and death – leaving us with a snapshot of what true friendship is all about. Sentimental? You bet, but immensely rewarding, nevertheless. You’ll be singing “Did I ever tell you, you’re my hero…” while laughing and bawling your eyes out at the same time.
