NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. Nip/Tuck, one of the most critically acclaimed new drama series of recent times, is back on M-Net for its third season on January 24 at 21h30. This talked-about show is well-known for its daring story lines, brilliant acting and special effects make-up. It won the Golden Globe for best drama series last year; for two years in a row series star Joely Richardson received Golden Globe nominations (2004, 2005); Julian McMahon also boasts a Golden Globe nomination; and Nip/Tuck’s make-up gurus are the proud owners of an Emmy award. Set in Miami, Nip/Tuck exposes the psychological truths behind love and friendship, loyalty and fidelity, through the lives of two plastic surgeons, Dr. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Dr. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon), best friends and business partners who run a prominent South Beach practice. The series also explores the dark side of plastic surgery and the painful - and sometimes violent - lengths people will go to in their quest for external beauty.
