NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. Breakin’ All The Rules is a comedy drama romance directed by Daniel Taplitz with Jamie Foxx, Gabrielle Union, Morris Chestnut, Peter MacNicol and Jennifer Esposito to be screened on M-Net on January 16 at 11h00. The mating rituals of a group of African American yuppies living in Los Angeles are explored in this saucy, romantic comedy revolving around a man who writes a best seller on how to dump someone. Quincy has it all: style, good looks, a great job as a magazine editor, and a sexy girlfriend. But when sexy Helen dumps him, devastated Quincy quits his job and starts writing hundreds of letters in which he pours out his anger and frustration. His womanising cousin Evan decides the letters will make a wonderful book on how to dump women, and soon, Quincy has a best seller on his hands. Things get complicated when Evan, who only keeps his girlfriends for three months, involves Quincy in a hair-brained dumping scheme involving Evan’s cute girlfriend Nikki. Romantic hijinks follow, not least of which is the return of Helen, who rather liked what she read in Quincy’s book!
