On October 13, the University Film Club in Pietermaritzburg will show Meet Me in St Louis, Vincente Minnelli's 1944 stylish musical "valentine to the good old days".

Working with her future husband, Judy Garland is in peak form and if Minnelli's portrayal of America at the turn of the century allows itself a degree of romantic nostalgia, the film is not altogether soft at the centre.

Films are shown in the Centre for Visual Arts Lecture Theatre in Ridge Road at 18h00. (Safe parking is available by entering the double gate immediately above the CVA; the gate will be opened between 17h45 and 18h00)
