NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. In the Wednesday Premiere slot on M-Net on August 10, is How to Deal, a romance directed by Clare Kilner and featuring Mandy Moore, Trent Ford, Peter Gallagher and Allison Janney. This is described as a sweet coming-of-age movie about a teenager who must deal with her parents’ divorce, her best friend’s pregnancy and the romantic advances of a rebellious boy. Based on the popular teen novels- Someone Like You and That Summer by Sarah Dessen, the movie stars teen pop star Mandy Moore as Halley. Halley is a teenager in her last year of school. It should be the happiest year of her life, but it’s not: her dad has left her mom for another woman, her older sister despises her fiancé, and her best friend has just fallen pregnant by the school jock. Another confusion in Halley’s life is bad boy Macon Forrester (Trent Ford) who won't leave Halley alone. Just when she decides to become cynical about love, he confesses his undying love for her.
