On January 7 at 10h00, M-Net is to screen Simone, an intriguing tale about a director who uses a synthetic actress to star in his new film.

Directed by Andrew Niccol (director/writer of Gattaca), the movie stars Al Pacino, Rachel Roberts, Catherine Keener, Evan Rachel Wood, Winona Ryder and Jay Mohr.

Viktor Taransky despairs when his lead actress storms off the set. But a computer genius has the solution: cast a synthespian (synthetic actress) in the movie. No more tantrums, no more expenses, and no more expensive pay cheques. Viktor reluctantly agrees, only to see Simone (short for Simulation One) become an overnight hit, with Hollywood tabloid writers falling over themselves to interview her. Now what?
