NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. Avid DStv watcher Sue Holloway reports on DStv History Channel’s Cleopatra. “The story of Cleopatra has always been very interesting, but the film shown on the History Channel on Womens' Day was very boring. Many people who took the time to watch this episode were expecting a lively rendition of the facts surrounding Cleopatra's rise and fall. Could the film not have explored her younger days more thoroughly with relevant clips? There have been many films made of the days of the Roman Empire, surely interesting clips from these films could have been used instead of the repetitive coins shown during the episode? For instance, the film with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton - plenty of movement! “Cleopatra was a beautiful woman, but there was not one picture of her. The story telling also lacked the "oomph" surrounding this prominent legend - actually sounding very dull and boring. “I was very disappointed. Even missed out on watching my usual "Cold Case" to watch this show.” – Sue Holloway
