NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. The Messiah is a four-episode series on M-Net starting December 16 at 21h30 and starring Ken Stott and Edward Woodward. The dark suspense drama features brilliant detective Red Metcalfe and his top team of investigators. They are pitched against a terrifying serial killer that is stalking the streets of London, leaving his victims with silver spoons in their mouths in places of tongues. As it is only a matter of time before the fiend strikes again, Red and his team struggle to solve the murders. “Messiah is far removed from conventional police drama as you can get. It’s very intense, a dark tale of moral redemption, with a haunting psychology you find in all the best thrillers,” says Louise Berridge who produced the mini-series. Her previous credits are Ambassadors, Wuthering Heights and McCready & Daughter.
