HARDtalk’s Tim Sebastian talks to actress and political activist Vanessa Redgrave with Lyse Doucet on November 20 on the BBC World channel on DStv.

Vanessa Redgrave is an international star of stage and screen as well as a political activist. Famously pro-Palestinian, she denounced the “Zionist hoodlums” when she accepted her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress after portraying a woman who helped Jews during the Second World War. Now she has turned her attention to the alleged Chechen war criminal, Akmed Zakayev, whom she believes is innocent. The case has already been thrown out in Denmark and he is due to appear in court in London next month. She explains her views to Tim Sebastian.

HARDtalk can now be seen globally on BBC World on each weekday at 06h30, repeated at 13h30, 17h30, 21h30 and 02h30 (the following day).
