Incredibly, it’s been over 20 years since the RHCPs emerged onto the music scene from Los Angeles in 1982 as essentially a quartet with varying personnel, anchored by lead singer Anthony Kiedis and bass player Michael Balzary (better known as Flea). Their music has been described as hybrid rock, incorporating several genres from punk and funk to rap and metal.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Weekend will be broadcast on MTV on the DStv channels on November 14, 15 and 16. The programmes celebrate the group’s prolific career and the release of their Greatest Hits album.
