Complementing the current burgeoning development along the Dolphin Coast, north of Durban, will be the re-opening of Ballito's very own cinema on October 3.

The two-screen Ballito Cinema complex has been extensively renovated and refurbished. Innovative new owners Jane and Greg Forsythe are local residents and see the area as an integrated whole where cinema-goers can relax with a cup of coffee, browse through a book from the book exchange or view African works of art. The foyer area has been retiled and repainted and the entire complex will be furnished with antique collectables, some of which will be for sale.

"We want this to be a community meeting place", says Jane, "and we aim to provide a warm and welcoming ambience to visitors to the cinema. Besides showing current movies we intend holding a weekly Classics Club where “golden oldies” may be viewed. We will also hold a regular Saturday morning Kids Club, where we hope Mums will be happy to leave their children while they shop or just relax for a couple of hours."

Jane and Greg also plan to hold monthly Sunday evening soirees for art house films where patrons may enjoy a glass of wine and a chat.

The cinema is perfectly placed in the popular Balvista Centre on Sandra Road. Free parking is readily available and there are many restaurants in the area.
