The acclaimed psychological drama Notes on a Scandal can be seen in the M-Net Monday Night Premiere on April 7 at 20h30. The movie is directed by Richard Eyre and features Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett, Andrew Simpson and Bill Nighy.

Nominated for over 40 awards, including four Oscars, Notes on a Scandal is about an elderly spinster who exacts a terrible revenge on the young art teacher who scorned her.

History teacher Barbara is a 60-something spinster and closet lesbian with little to look forward to except retirement. But this all changes with the arrival of Sheba, the 30-something new art teacher. Pale, beautiful and effervescent, Sheba is soon befriended by both Barbara and 15-year-old schoolboy Steven. When Barbara catches Sheba and Steven in a passionate embrace, she conceals her jealousy under a cloak of professional concern. “Promise me you’ll stop seeing the boy”, she demands. Sheba, who is married with two children, promises, but it’s an empty one, and soon Barbara is plotting her revenge.
