Karen Silkwood has a wild private life and a humdrum job at a nuclear plant, but that all changes when she and other workers start getting sick. Karen suspects that safety measures at work aren't up to scratch, but the bosses sweep her concerns under the carpet. Determined to see the matter through, she gathers evidence, then drives off to talk to a reporter. But she never makes it.
