NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. Coming up at Rhumbelow Theatre, Tickled Pink is a fun-filled show paying tribute to more of the songs of artists who are gay icons. A tongue-in-cheek look at many of the questions surrounding a gay lifestyle. Darren King and Marion Loudon, two of KwaZulu-Natal’s top vocal artists, present their sequel to the highly successful A Touch of Pink. In Tickled Pink the line-up runs from Boy George and George Michael to Tammy Wynette and The Pointer Sisters. “Were they just in the wrong place at the right time?” quip the performers. “Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland and Shirley Bassey have all felt the benefit of the ‘Pink Rand’.” Tickled Pink offers an amusing and witty musical journey through some of the world’s best loved artists and most popular songs. Shows take place on September 19 and 20 at 20h00 and on September 21 at 18h30. The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner. Tickets R70. Take along food picnic baskets and braais will be available. There is limited secure parking and booking is essential. A cash bar is available (no alcohol may be brought on to the premises). Rhumbelow Theatre is situated in Cunningham Avenue off Bartle Road. To book contact Roland on 031 205 7602 (h) or 082 499 8636, email roland@stansell.za.net or visit www.rhumbelow.za.net
