A unique double-bill of house music begins the Pietermaritzburg-based Music Revival’s 2001 concert series. “Experience another world, a time when noise levels were different, with the delicate strains of a harpsichord - the seldom-heard instrument used here is a spinet, a smaller relative of the harpsichord,” says pianist Christopher Duigan founder of Music Revival.

“The programme explores the romance of Baroque in the music of Handel, Scarlatti and other exotic Baroque composers played on the instrument of their time in an appropriate size space. Apart from solo items the instrument will also be used in an accompanying role,” explains Christopher.“ Soloists will be Music Revival favourites – Russian musicians violinist Boris Kerimov and cellist Elena Kerimov.

For the second part of the programme Pietermaritzburg's new dynamic piano ensemble 8-Hands will present a selection of French music for four hands at one piano. Intended for domestic use these charming duets provide ear-tickling entertainment. Music by Debussy, Bizet and Faure's Dolly Suite.
