The incredible worldwide response to those suffering along the coastlines stuck by the Tsunami shows how much real concern there is for those facing calamity. There are also those close to home who have great needs, not so much for financial assistance, but for the time and care of those willing to help.

Seeing the gap between those willing to help and those with problems, Tracy Young and Louise Palmer have written a book - How 2 Help: A Guide to Worthy Causes in Durban. So if 2005 is to be the year in which you are going to lend a hand - a hand being more than a coin thrust out of your car window - her book is just the way to start.

Written in guide format with each project listed alphabetically, accompanied by a brief history and description as well as contact details, How 2 Help is the essential handbook for those choosing where to devote their energy.

How 2 Help: A Guide to Worthy Causes in Durban will be available at Adams Bookstore in Musgrave Centre from February 11. More information from Beverly on 031 304 8571.
