NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. The latest issue of Botsotso, one of South Africa’s most exciting literary journals, is to be launched at the 2008 Witness Hilton Arts Festival on September 13. It will be presented by Live Poets Society (LiPS) members Kobus Moolman, Mphutlane wa Bofelo and Brett Beiles who will present some of their work there. They will be joined by Charl-Pierre Naudé from Johannesburg, who it Is hoped will soon guest at a LiPS gathering. The launch takes place at 14h00 in the CF1 Lecture Theatre at Hilton College and will be followed by an open mic session in which all poets are invited to participate. There is no charge. The next day (September 14) in the same venue at 13h30, LiPS members Allan Kolski Horwitz and Liesl Jobson will be joined by Peter Rule in an exploration of new trends in South African short fiction. Allan will read selections from his flash fiction collection Out of the Wreckage and Liesl from her collection 100 Papers – both hot off the press from Botsotso Publishing. Again no charge. More information from Liesl Jobson at botsotsopublishing@gmail.com or 084 999 9070 or Allan Kolski Horwitz on 082 251 8188.
