NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. My endearing memory of being tutored by Professor Sneddon was her persuasive ability to make a statement or a comment on a piece of work or an extract from a Greek tragedy and say: “Isn't it?” in such a way and with such a wicked twinkle in her eye that one could only agree. She was a master craftsperson in her art and even today, I am aware of facets of her teaching peppering my daily life. I know when I introduced a course in Speech and Drama for Standard 7 pupils at Eshowe High School in 1979, I imbued the course with the principles of speech and communication she taught. I only hope I passed them on to a younger generation honourably. Professor Sneddon, go well. You have had an extremely full life and may flights of angels sing you to your rest. Glen Stephen, BA (Speech and Drama Major 1977), Botswana
