NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. Dear Editor As a veteran theatre critic who has worked in print and radio in four countries, and written directed and acted myself, I feel qualified to comment on last Sunday's review of Guys and Dolls. As a rookie, I was advised that the theatre-going public read reviews to learn about the show, not to admire the knowledge or ideas of the reviewer. Akin to WG Grace's famous remark that the public came to watch him bat, not to see the umpire in action. Before she is let loose on the fragile theatre industry again, I would suggest that one of Independent Newspapers' experienced and knowledgeable theatre critics take Miss Angelique in hand - or that in future she sticks to tattooing and shopping. Salaamu, Lylie Musgrave, Kibao Communications.
